Google Ads Management for Local Businesses
Show up at the top of Google for people ready to hire, across the whole city, while your map rankings climb.
Who Google Ads is for
Businesses people search for when they need them: plumbers, cleaners, roofers, garage door repair. If your customers type what you do into Google, this is where you start.
Ads also cover what the map pack can't. The map favors businesses close to the searcher. Ads reach the rest of town.
How I run your account
Tracking first
Form submissions and calls get tested before a dollar is spent. If Google can't see real leads, it optimizes for the wrong thing.
Search only
No Display Network, no search partners. Your ads show on Google searches and nowhere else.
Only people in your area
Set to people actually in your service area, not people "interested" in it from three states away.
Tight keywords
Searches from people ready to hire, like "plumber Idaho Falls" or "emergency plumber near me." No broad match at launch.
A negative keyword list
Blocks job seekers, DIYers and towns you don't serve.
A landing page
Says exactly what the ad promised, with your phone number and form on it.
Google's "recommendations" stay off
Most of them are written to raise your spend.
Weekly checks
And a monthly report that counts calls and quote requests, not clicks.
What it looks like in practice
Hi-Teck Cleaning's Google Ads were counting visits to the quote page as leads, which made them look far better than they were. I fixed the tracking so only real quote requests count, cut 15 keywords that never got a single impression, kept the ads to people actually in the service area and built a landing page just for the ads. See the case study.
What it costs
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Setup | $500 |
| Management | $600 a month, covers up to $3,000 a month in ad spend |
| Ad spend above $3,000 | 15% of the extra spend |
| Google and Meta together | $1,000 a month, $750 setup |
Ad spend goes on your own card, in an account you own. Google Ads is added from month 4 of the Local Lead System, once your profile and site are ready to catch the traffic.
Questions
How much should I spend on ads?
Enough for at least 10 clicks a day in your area. I'll pull the real cost per click for your keywords before we agree on a number.
How fast does it work?
Ads can show the day they launch. The first 60 to 90 days are for collecting data and tightening the account.
Why not start with ads?
Ads send people to your site and profile. If those aren't ready, you pay for clicks that don't call.
