Google Business Profile Optimization
Your Google profile decides whether you show up in the map pack. Most of them in town are half finished.
What Google looks at
Google ranks local businesses on three things: how close they are to the person searching, how well they match the search, and how much Google trusts them.
You can't move your shop. The other two come mostly from your profile: the categories you pick, the services you list, your reviews, your photos and whether anyone's posted in the last month.
What I do to your profile
Categories
One primary category that matches what people search, plus only the extras that fit. I check what the top 3 in your town use first.
Services
Every service you really offer, with a short description for the top ones, and nothing you don't do.
Service area
The towns your customers actually call from.
Description
Written by me, in plain words, with your town in it and a reason to call.
Photos
Real photos of your work and your crew, tagged with the towns where you want to rank.
Reviews
A simple system that asks every happy customer, plus a reply to every review.
Posts
A new post every week, so Google sees an active business.
Bookings and FAQ
Your contact page linked and your common questions answered on the profile.
What it looks like in practice
Hi-Teck Cleaning's profile listed 60+ services when I took it over. Most were things Hi-Teck doesn't do. I cut it to the 13 they actually offer, fixed the categories, rewrote the description, added Ammon and Shelley to the service area and started posting three times a week. See the case study.
What it costs
Profile work is part of the Local Lead System: $1,500 setup and $997 a month, 90-day minimum, with the 90-day guarantee. Google usually picks up profile changes within 3 to 14 days.
Questions
Should I put keywords in my business name?
No. It can get your profile suspended. I use your real business name and win on everything else.
Do I need a storefront?
No. Service-area businesses rank too. Your home address stays hidden.
How many reviews do I need?
Enough to look like the top 3 in your town, and a steady stream after that. Four new reviews a month beats twenty in one week.
